Presentation of organisation
The TUM trains engineers for national economy’s branches, accordingly to the requirements of modern society: Telecommunications, Energy, Food Industry, Auto Transport, Light Industry, Industrial and Civil Constructions, Architecture, Informatics and Microelectronics. It comprises of 10 faculties, several research centers, 310 laboratories, university library. TUM is implementing Bologna Process requirements. Studies are structured in 3 cycles (Bachelor, Master, Doctorate). Along the years TUM has educated over 66 000 engineers and economists. Today, about 16 000 students are enrolled at the University. The principal goal of the TUM is to offer qualitative studies by the combining of education, research and innovation to the young generation.
The Library of TUM is developed as a system of integrated structures which ensure the documentation and information basis necessary for the educational and research processes; it organizes suitable library and informational services for users.
The role of the organisation in the project
The TUM is going to integrate new technologies in the library, implementing high-grade equipment to offer new possibilities to access of information as well as the necessity for adapting the performance of the library to the exigencies of the Quality Management and new standards in education and research; to organize the “e-Library” systems and services; to create Institutional Repository, the basis of a Virtual Learning Environment, supporting research, teaching, learning and administrative processes; to share information, encouraging collaboration and communication within university libraries network .
