Presentation of organisation

Chisinau “Ion Creanga” State Pedagogical University is a higher educational institution establishment in Moldova and was founded in 1940.

The mission of the university: pedagogical training of teachers and science education through research innovation inter-and transdisciplinary. It trains future school teachers.

 The University has participated in the Tempus programm for a long time and is implementing Bologna objectives.

  UPS “Ion Creanga”  will ensure the application of quality standards in the beneficiary country and thanks to its deep experience and collaboration with EU and NIS countries under international projects as well as Tempus, Erasmus Mundus, DAAD, AUF, AFP etc. 

The Scientific Library of UPS owns the most valuable education teaching informational resources in the country and provides informational/library services to the whole education teaching community of Moldova, first of all to students, master and doctoral students and academic staff of the University.

The role of the organisation in the project

The UPS “I. Creanga” intends to improve and diversify the informational services provided to students, master and doctoral students, academic staff and academic community; to broaden and facilitate the access to international informational resources; to equip the university library with up-to-date IT resources; and to integrate the library into a unique academic informational space established within university libraries network in Moldova. This project integrates into the University's strategic goals, namely to contribute to:

• Upgrading information in accordance with the European norms and standards of university libraries;

• Activation of integration process and institutional, national, and international collaboration with unique scientific and educational space;

• Expanding opportunities: training of future national teachers; scientific research of the university staff and continuous training of teachers in the country.
